Dear All,

It is time to start the Greenfields Cup competition!

As most of you already know, the Greenfields Cup is a knock-out competition, with matches normally played on Sunday mornings (due to the league matches being played on Saturdays) with the finals to be played on Gala Day, scheduled for 5 May 2018. There are Cup competitions for each age group, with U8, U10 & U12 having more than one competition due to the number of divisions involved.

This year the Cup divisional groupings are as follows:

  • Under 8 - Cup 1: AB; Cup 2: CD
  • Under 10 - Cup 1: AB; Cup 2: CD; Cup 3: EF
  • Under 12 - Cup 1: ABC; Cup 2: CDE
Note: U12 C is split into 2 with the top 4 teams in the League joining the ABC Cup and the Bottom 5 teams joining the CDE Cup
  • Under 14 - Cup 1: A
  • Under 16 - Cup 1: A
  • Under 19 - Cup 1: A

The format is straight knock-out from the beginning (no round robin). The winner of each match goes through to the next round and the loser is eliminated from the competition.

Please refer to Section 4 of the JSFA Rules regarding the Cup format and penalty shoot-outs.

Based on the number of divisions and teams in each division there will be a Preliminary Round of matches in order to have 16 teams in the First Round for the U8, U10, U12 & U14 Cups. For U16 & U19 there will be one Preliminary Round match in each to have 8 teams in the first round.

The Preliminary Round matches are played between the lower placed teams in the lower divisions of each Cup grouping in each age group. The winners of the Preliminary Round matches will join the First Round and the losers will be eliminated. Preliminary Round match fixtures, to be played on Sunday 25 February, are posted on the website.

The First Round has been drawn and the fixtures will be posted on the website very soon so please keep checking. Most matches are scheduled for 4 & 11 March however there are some to be played on 25 February.
