About JSFA

The Jakarta Schools Football Association (JSFA) was founded in 1995 by a small group of British International School parents with the aim of delivering inter-schools Association Football to boys and girls of all ages in the Greater Jakarta area.

Since then, the Jakarta Schools Football League (JSFL) has grown from 6 schools and 12 teams in 1995 to what it is now arguably one of the largest schools football competitions in the world with close to 200 teams from around 60 schools fielding more than 3,000 players. Every season, around 1000 matches are played at 12 different venues on weekends over a 4 month period. In addition to the League competition there is also a Cup ‘knock-out’ competition for all age groups, culminating in a grand finals day at the end of season Gala Day, which also sees the presentation of awards to all League and Cup winners and runners-up.

The JSFA, whose Management Committee is made up of three volunteer parents, is a non-profit organisation and raises operating capital primarily from its major supporting sponsors, Allianz (the League) and Greenfields Milk (the Cup), as well as other smaller sponsors and the team registration fees. The finances are managed exclusively by the British School Jakarta Foundation, which acts as the legal entity within which the JSFA is housed.

The JSFL is very much about inclusion, team spirit and social interaction as well as a healthy element of competition. Respect, Sportsmanship and Fair Play are at its heart. Children are able to develop social and football skills, teamwork and team spirit. They experience the joy of winning and the confidence it brings, as well as the disappointment of defeat, and develop the ability to move forward to the next challenge in a positive way.
